Getting Makayla to Minnesota

This is our beautiful niece Makayla. Makayla has been sick for some time and they can't figure out what is wrong with her. She is going to the MAYO Clinic in March for testing and hopefully they will be able to find and treat whatever she has. Scott's good cousin Lena has put together a fundraiser to help Mike and Karin (Scott's sister and brother-in-law) get Makayla to Minnesota. The Children's Miracle Network is paying for the majority of it but there is still some that isn't covered. If you know and love this little girl, you know her amazing soul, and her will to just be a child, to run and play, and we pray for her constantly that she'll be able to do that soon. She is such an amazing child and deserves all of the good times that a child has. If you would like to donate, please let me know and I'll tell you how to get money to the fund, or join the group "Get Makayla to Mayo Clinic" on Facebook for details.

So incredibly blessed

We are so incredibly blessed. It has been a long, emotionally exhausting day where I had to leave work and take Scott to the emergency room. We were both really scared for a while about what was happening to him, he was having some scary symptoms. We found out that he has a case of the "bad" flu. We also think that he has a pinched nerve. But we weren't able to find that out.

We just feel so blessed to live in a place where we have good doctors, good medicine, INSURANCE, and most of all, we're so blessed to have have the Priesthood in our home and have wonderful, willing neighbors that are worthy (that's a lot of W's) to come and use that Priesthood to give Scott a blessing. We're so grateful that we can have that in any place that we may move to.

We just feel like lately the blessings of heaven have been pouring down on us in every aspect and even in the scary times, Heavenly Father is watching over us and blessing us.

Scott

I like this tag because I get to brag about one thing that I'm passionate about...Scott. Plus I like reading this tag about others because I don't know most people's stories and it's fun to find out.

1. When did you meet your husband? June 2006. We went to high school together and I was friends with both of his cousins and many of his other friends. He was good friends with my best friend, yet we never met in HS. I did know that there was a guy in my grade with the last name of Westwood, but that's all. The first time I saw him was in Sacrament meeting in my singles ward. I had brought my friend Shannon with me and we walked in the back of the chapel and she immediately said "Who's the guy in the suit?" We met officially later that day at a break the fast at our friend Kami's house. He came over and sat with my circle of friends and we talked and I had to take his picture for the ward directory. That night I went home and showed my family the cute new guy in my ward.
We hung out as a ward almost every night that summer...man it was fun!

2. How long did you date before you got married? We started dating in August 2006 and dated 7 months, had a 2 month breakup and got back together for 2 months and then got engaged. We were engaged for 3 months and got married!

3. How long have you been married? 15 awesome months.

4. What does he do to surprise you? When we were dating he would randomly bring me a rose or put a rose on my car (he had an awesome rose bush where he lived). Now he does sweet things like cleaning up the house or planning fun outings to places we've never been.

5. What is your favorite physical feature of him? He's the total package, everything about him is cute!

6. What is your favorite quality? His unwavering faith. He always goes forth with a positive attitude and always looks for the positive in every situation. He doesn't dwell on the negative.

7. Does he have a nickname for you? Yeah he calls me babe.

8. What is his favorite food? Um...he likes most things. He really likes sushi and a good steak.

9.What is his favorite sport? Tennis. He played in high school and in college. He used to want to go pro. He still likes to go and play sometimes when the weather is good and he has time.

10. When and wear did you first kiss? Well...when we started "dating" we decided not tell people in our ward and kind of keep it quiet. So we were hanging out at our friends house who had a pool (an almost every night occurrence) and he left to go home and I had to drive some people home and when I got out to my car there was a rose on my windshield. So after I dropped my friends off, I went over to his house and he was getting out of his car and I hugged him and went 90% in (refer to the movie "Hitch"), and he went the other 10%. It was a long time coming. So it happened in front of the house that he grew up in. It was sweet!

11.What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? We like to go to the temple but we don't get there as often as we should. We like to cuddle up and watch a good movie. We enjoy cuddling.

12. Do you have children? Just Cosmo for now. And Grandma and Grandpa are doing a great job at taking care of him and giving him he love that he needs. We hope to have him with us soon.

13. Does he have any hidden talents? Yes, and it's not my place to share those hidden talents. :)

14. How old is he? 26 and 1/2.

15. Who said I love you first? Um...I did the first round. He did first in the second round, 3 days after we got back together...it was awesome!

16. What is his favorite music? They Might Be Giants and Crash Test Dummies. And he likes a huge variety of other music. He's so cultured.

17. What do you admire most about him? He is the most kind person you will ever meet. He accepts everyone no matter their situation and he taught me what it is to be totally accepting of everyone that I come into contact with. He is truly the best person I know.

18. What is his favorite color? Purple.

19. Will he read this? Yes he will.

20. People I tag... Whoever wants to. I like reading fun stories.

Exercise

How come when I hear the word exercise I automatically think of the word in a negative way? Does anyone else feel that way? If I don't workout in the morning, I spend the whole day thinking about it and thinking of excuses to get out of it. But I always feel better when I do exercise, so why is it perceived as so bad or tedious when I feel better after having done it? Answers...anyone?

What was REALLY on my Christmas list

This is the Takagi toilet seat warmer that adjusts between 96 and 108 degrees. It costs more than Scott and I spent on each other for Christmas. But I still wish I had it. Let's just say that I'm tired of gasping everytime I sit down on our thrown. :)
