A picnic up the canyon

Yesterday was Scott's day off from work so we decided to go for a drive up the canyon to have a picnic. We were told about this great little recreation area and so we went there and the gate was locked to get into it, so we had to go somewhere else. We decided to go up a canyon in Helper. It was really pretty. It's really rocky and has a lot of red and orange tint to the rock. They call this area all the way down to Moab "Castle Country" because of the beautiful rock formations. There wasn't any picnic areas up there so we just pulled of the road and sat in the back of the Pathfinder to eat our lunch. It was the perfect day for a picnic and it's always fun to spend time together!

The simple things that make me happy

Today I was thinking about the simple things in my life that make me happy. Some of them are things that didn't affect me before I got married and had a home of my own and some of them are just random.
  • When Scott come home from work at night.
  • Driving down Cedar Hills Dr. in Price and seeing the beautiful view, it looks like the mountains in southern Utah, I feel like I'm living in a national park.
  • The time after I've exercised when I know that it's done for the day and I don't have to worry about it
  • Having a church practically in my backyard, and knowing no matter where I go the church is the same and having the network of people.
  • Having my cute father-in-law comment on my blog. (If you haven't met him, you're missing out, he's amazing!)
  • Seeing that boneless, skinless chicken breasts are on sale at Smith's for 1.59/lb.
  • Getting a random hug from my brother when we go to my parents. (If you haven't met him, you're missing out, he's pretty cool!)
  • Being able to do laundry whenenver I want without having to take it at my parents.
  • Having a toilet that works. (Scott and I haven't had good experiences with toilets since we've been married, but we finally have a great toilet.)
  • Having dinner done and the dishes done.
  • Going to my parents, seeing Cosmo in the window and seeing how excited he is to see me. Then having him follow me around everywhere wanting to get loves.
  • Seeing little kids and getting excited about being able to have a baby one day that will be half of me and half of Scott. I can't wait to see what they're like!
  • Getting a random call from my mom to see how I'm doing.
  • Being able to fall asleep next to my best friend every night.
  • Seeing two wonderful teenage girls (my beautiful nieces) meet another girl around their age and take that girl under their wing, to make her feel comfortable and welcome. That not only makes me happy but it makes me extremely proud.
  • Watching my dad chatting with my nephew Andrew (from Scott's side) and knowing that he's trying to get used to having a little boy coming into our family. I think he's really excited to have a grandson with the Marks name and it's been a long time since we've had a baby boy in the family.
  • Watching The Office with my family, and quoting it whenever we're together.
  • Putting a bunch of ingredients together and making something tasty out of it.
  • Looking at the slideshow on the blog and thinking about the journey that Scott and I have gone through since we met.
  • Having a clean house and clean laundry.
  • Hearing from friends that I haven't been in contact with in a long time.
  • Blogging, looking at other's blogs and getting comments on post. :)

One of the many reasons that I fell in love...

Scott and I were one of those couples that started out as friends and just grew closer the more that we hung out together. The weekend after our first date we went with some friends to a karaoke night at a local play house. This is where I saw one of his many talents that he posseses and started to fall in love. In the video he will sing a line "If I had a million dollars, I'd buy your love" and to my relief after watching it back with him that night, you can't here me say to my friends "he doesn't need a million dollars to buy my love!"

There's no place like home

It's a hard transition to move away from home, where the majority of your friends and family members are. We had the chance to go to my parents house this weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday which was a lot of fun. We were able to celebrate on Sunday with a big meal that my 2 sisters made. I have to say that I have one of the funnest families in the world and I love when I get to spend time with them. It's also nice to be able to see my dog Cosmo when I got up there. It's been a big adjustment being away from him for such long periods, but he is king of the castle at my parent's house and I wouldn't have left him with anyone else. I know that he is "well taken care of". I do know that Price is where we're supposed to be right now and I'm just glad that I'm here with Scott. But I'm glad that home is only 2 hours away.

Oh the joy of modern technology!

Scott and I have been in Price for 2 weeks now. We are settling into our apartment and have unpacked most of our stuff. I have had to come to terms with the fact that we won't be using our extra bedroom for a guest bedroom. We have one wall that has boxes against it almost to the ceiling, 2 rows of boxes deep. It takes up quite a bit of the room but that's ok, we don't have random things in our living areas like we did before and that is really nice. The extra room is now serving as a laundry room/exercise room/storage room/TV room. Yep, you heard right, for the first time in our married life, we have a TV! I could always watch TV at my parents when there was something that interested me, but being away from everything, we decided to break down and get cable. This came on Friday with our internet. If you're really quiet and you listen carefully you can hear angels singing "Aaaaahhhhh". I don't start work for 3 more weeks and the last 2 weeks I've had a hard time finding things to do all day. We could watch movies but now I don't have to go to the college to watch American Idol (which is now over) or to check my email. You don't realize how much you can't do when you don't have internet. As for the cable, I like being able to watch the news and a few shows that I will not admit being addicted to. The TV that we have is in that extra room and the best place to sit in that room in on the exercise bike, which could be a good or a bad thing. Yes, I did plan it that way, I must work to get my reward. And you would think that having 24 hours a day with not much to do, it would be a lot easier to find the time and motivation to exercise, but it is still easy to find an excuse. I'm hoping that this new plan will work.

Price Utah

Scott and I have finally made it to Price. It's very different for me. I'm not used to living in a small town but it's nice to have blue skies when it's clear and clean air to breath. We have a cute little apartment that doesn't quite fit all of our stuff but at least we have an extra bedroom that we can store all of our extra stuff in. One of the best parts of our apartment is that we can have our own washer and dryer. *I'd like to make a special shout-out to Jeanette for giving us a washer*. Who would have ever thought that something like that would be an exciting thing in my life. Scott is loving being down there. He will be starting at Sears on Monday, working the same job that he did when he went to CEU before. It's a huge blessing for us. I'll post pictures soon. We're getting internet at our house in a week so it will have to wait until then.

Welcome!

The Westwood family has finally arrived. We decided it was time to document our life. We love reading other blogs and feel like we are a part of other's lives that we don't get to see too often. We're moving to Price this weekend and we won't be near any family anymore so we thought that this would be a good way for people to see what we're up to.
